Hurricane Irma – Day 11 – September 16th

Update:

Our day started from the early hours of the morning where a small contingent of our volunteers unloaded and relocated donated food to add to our stock for distribution to the different institutions in need around the Island, this continued until the afternoon.

During this time, the majority of our team worked together with the Koninklijke Marine to continue bringing food and water to the selected distribution points. Two shifts of food and water distribution were made in St John’s Estate for the St John’s, Saunders, Betty’s Estate and Mary Fancy residents.

Some of our team stayed back at the port after the day’s work to help clean up, re-organize and inventory the government donated food in preparation for the next day, and in the late afternoon, we delivered water to the NIPA shelter and milk to the White and Yellow Cross Care Foundation.

In the evening The K1 Britannia Foundation volunteers worked to inventory all the donated food that was unloaded in the morning and the K1 representatives attended the government meeting to assess how the distribution went today and plan for tomorrow.
