Hurricane Irma – Day 22 – September 28th
Today we decided that there was a need to sort through our storage so we could assess what we had available in supplies. This way we could divide it properly among the various organizations that we are supporting.
Deliveries were made to New Start and I Can Foster Homes, White and Yellow Cross Care Foundation, Safe Haven Foundation SXM, Turning Point, Mental Health Foundation Sint Maarten and St. Maarten Medical Center. We also gave out a total of 20 boxes of high-energy biscuits donated by the World Food Programme alongside the other supplies.
After a number of hours of hard work, the volunteers were very grateful for lunch which was generously donated by Barbara at Rancho – Palapa Grill. It was delicious! Thank you Barbara!
Through the generosity of another local chef, 100 hot meals were donated to the foundation for distribution. K1 volunteers delivered the food to the White and Yellow Cross Care Foundation. The staff made sure to get the hot meals to twenty families who are registered with the food bank in St. Maarten and to senior citizens living in hard to reach districts.
