Hurricane Irma – Week 7A (Oct 16-18)

Update:

We got a request for the need of water at the various pre-schools on the island. We were able to collect and deliver 1160 5L bottles to the St. Maarten Early Childhood Development Association for distribution amongst 30 preschools on the island. Windward Roads donated their truck and time to assist us in the deliveries of the water to the pre-schools. We also delivered 5 pallets of 500 5L bottles of water to the Milton Peters College (MPC) and Sundial School.

To supplement the canned goods and water delivered last week, we distributed frozen meat to Mental Health Foundation, Turning Point, UJIMA and New Start and I Can Foster Homes.

We continued our deliveries of High Energy Biscuits (HEB) to the schools on the island and delivered 45 boxes to the 7th Day Adventist School, Hillside Christian School – Helmich Snijders, MAC: Rev. John A. Gumbs Campus, Ruby Labega Primary School, and Ace Foundation.

This week we decided to focus our deliveries of the 100 hot meals on the youth. We gave meals to the New Start Foster Home, St. Maarten Youth Council, Turning Point, ASA, Leo Club Children’s Afternoon Program and lastly to Turning Point.

We continued with the care packages and distributed to residents of Well Road, Cole Bay.
Thirty (30) hot meals were graciously donated by Arena Base Cafe for our volunteers from Monday to Wednesday.

One of our volunteers assisted the kitchen at the St. Maarten Academy in making breakfast for the population of 500 students.

We got a few more donated food items which will be a huge help with our distributions to the vulnerable on the island.
Lastly, we held a team meeting to discuss the state of affairs and plan the next two weeks.
