K1 DIRECT: Trainings

There are some basic trainings that all K1 Direct volunteers will be required to go through. For example, CPR/AED/First Aid, Bedrijshulpverlening/ BHV (“Company emergency services” training), Psychological First Aid, Child protection in emergencies, etc.

There will be optional courses for those who want advanced training, and additional ones that will be required for the team leaders which will cover all aspects of crisis management, emergency logistics, and team leadership in disaster situations.

Thanks to the sponsorship of Carnival Cruise Line, and the support of organisations such as the Fire Department, Wiems SXM, Unicefsxm, ADRA & ESF7, over the last few months K1 Direct’s volunteers attended the following trainings:

1. Community Resiliency Model Training
2. Child Protection in Emergencies
3. The CPR/AED/First Aid training
4. BHV Training
5. Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
6. Akrin Training

We will post more in-depth about these trainings in January.

As K1 Direct expands its areas of disaster relief focus, volunteers will undergo the relevant trainings.

More advanced trainings are scheduled for team leaders in early 2019.
