Hurricane Dorian – K1 DIRECT: Bahamas Relief Update 7
Day 7, K1 DIRECT in Freeport visited the hardest hit areas to gain a better understanding of Dorian’s impact, and infrastructure and persons affected. There are many organizations who are working hard to ensure that some of the areas can be livable, so persons who don’t want to leave, can remain there or move back.
The day was mainly a rest day, as the team has been working really long hours. Towards the end of the day, K1 DIRECT also had meetings with various organizations and NEMA-Bahamas to discuss handing over K1 DIRECT’s role, as this week the team will depart.
In Nassau, Iris addressed the St. Michael’s Methodist Church to thank Rev for his support. The team then went on to assess an old hotel, with persons of the private sector and USAID – US Agency for International Development, to continue to find solutions to open a shelter as soon as possible.
